We were delighted to have the winner of the first San Francisco International Guitar Competition, Alieksey Vianna, as a Resident Artist in the community for two weeks in November, 2003. The residency was a resounding success with the young Brazilian guitarist performing in the high schools of San Francisco, San Francisco City College, and the San Francisco Conservatory. We teamed with San Francisco Performances to plug our Resident Artist into some of their ongoing educational projects. He also did outreach programs in Marin, San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. This was one of the most exciting things the Omni Foundation has ever done as we touched the lives of thousands of students. Mr. Vianna's final perfomance was an unqualified success. The concert hall was filled with students and their families who had met him during the residency and the standing ovation was well earned by this brilliant young artist.
